State of the Scribe: October 2026

Hey pones! It’s another month, and time for another calendar. The calendar is the same as it’s been the last few, so I’m not going to get into too much repetition about it. Still eager to share that Roman story, but still don’t have the cover, so that has to wait another month. But something I do have control over is my new site! It isn’t finished in some ways I’ll explain below, but there’s a lot there that’s worth talking about! So much so that I may’ve kinda sorta waited to post this update until I had this going.
It’s not just a store anymore.
Why Bother?
A few things. First, I’ve wanted somewhere to share my stories that’s actually pleasant to read. Patreon isn’t great for prose, it’s awful to navigate stories, remember where you were and what chapters you haven’t read. This new site uses fictioneer, so you can make a cookie and bookmark things. The individual chapters also expose controls similar to fimfiction for tailoring your reading experience. As I write more and more non-fanfiction, I’ll be very happy to give it a home on this site. It also has comments, so you can leave feedback or discuss with other readers the same as on fimfiction.
Hopefully soon I’ll get it synced with Patreon, so you’ll be able to connect it to your patreon account and read any restricted story there.
It’s also a site I can control, so if I want new features I can just write them. For example, a place for my audiobooks. Anyone who has followed me for a while knows I have audio versions of stories like Mew Like Me, and on my site you can just choose to listen to the audio version of a chapter, or download the whole thing.
Just click the audio button from the top of a page, and the playback will start. Or download the whole thing from the story’s page.

I’ve still got a ways to go to implementing everything else I wanted to do on the site. I’d like to do more with the filters, I still have non-fanfiction stories to upload, etc. And over time, I’d like to do audio for more of the stories. Most don’t have it yet, as you’ll see. But it’s a start.
I also mirrored all the image files for my stories over there, so hopefully I can prevent them from going down. IE: if the fimfiction links are unreliable, the stories hosted on my site use my own server to serve the pictures, so they can’t go down with link rot.
Lastly, the bookstore moved too: https://starscribe.net/store/ Same site, just the little store link. It’s the same stuff, I didn’t switch to some cheap printer overseas or anything. But now it doesn’t come with fees that guarantee I lose money by selling books each month. The store uses stripe instead of shopfiy, but it should be a pretty similar experience for anyone using it. I’m still the one shipping out the books, I don’t retain your data for more than 30 days after delivery, etc. It’s just that there’s no megacorp middleman leeching us all the time.
In the future, I aspire to link the site 1-1 with my fimfiction account, so that comments and blog posts mirror (though obviously I can’t leave comments in your name on fimfiction, so it would only go one way).
But that’s the big news from me. I’ve been pretty distracted getting it all up there. I know I have some patreon submissions to catch up on, things where the bot fell behind and I didn’t realize. I’ll get that taken care of soon enough, thanks so much for your patience.
Thanks so much for your continuing support!

- Light of Danu, A human prince came to the cervines seeking peace, only to be betrayed, murdered, and remade by their goddess. Twenty years later, Sage is Skye: a cervine druid, one of Danu’s Chosen, and the daughter of the very leader who destroyed his old home. But when Skye returns to the ruins of the human city she once knew, she finds the past isn’t quite as dead as everyone believes—and strange ships approaching the coast suggest that humanity may be back for revenge. (not yet posted to the new site, since no non-fanfic is there yet. I’ll get it updated this month to support them!)
- Quarantine, a vote driven story about a transformative pandemic that sweeps across north america. Like Voyage of the Equanox before it, this story unfolds based on user votes. If you’re not voting yet, now’s your chance to influence how Elliot’s story unfolds. https://www.fimfiction.net/story/568477/quarantine
- Accidental Sunshine: Changeling discovers ponies, but can she learn to master friendship before her deception is discovered? https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-105351764
- New Way Home is the story of when accidental human arrivals to Equestria are discovered by some very unfriendly creatures, and they’re forced to fight for survival: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-rescue-94115163
- Into the Everwood is my take on the Bloomburrow/Redwall type setting. Small wild animals, a medieval/magical elements, wars to fight and mysteries to solve. It’s an anthro world, though you’ll find plenty of my usual hallmarks (like TF), ancient technology, human influence, etc. I’m hoping to see it work as a series, it’s one of those worlds that has so much going on it could sustain several books with ease. Brave squirrel twins face creatures much bigger and stronger than they are. https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-into-144942218
- Layers of Change–Imagine an infinitely recursive hollow earth, where our same planet becomes increasingly bizarre the deeper down you travel. The story follows a true shapeshifter (at least he becomes one early on), which in this world are one of the most feared and dangerous beings–as they can travel freely between layers and take forms suited to each one. He becomes strange creatures, though his travels soon lead him to creatures he fears to leave behind. Everyone says he should be traveling deeper into the layers, but does he even want to? https://www.patreon.com/posts/147029874/
