State of the Scribe: February 2022

Hey everyone! Remember last month when the calendar had lots of empty space? We all knew that couldn’t last X.x

The new stuff first. The replacement for Forbidden Places “Don’t Bug Me” has released. It’s just waiting for a cover, then it will transfer to fimfiction for all to read. Not sure when that will be done, but expect to see it some Tuesday or another.

Don’t Bug Me is a story based on the following premise: what if humans who came to Equestria always arrived as Changelings? What if this was the origin of the species, as beings without magic who needed to parasitize this power from others?

It’s set in an alternate Equestria, where several distinct tribes and cultures of changelings exist in secret, each tracing their lineage to a different time and people from earth. The latest of these is an american summer camp, where a brother and sister will soon join a thousand others, arriving in Equestria at perhaps the worst possible time for changelings anywhere in the timeline.

Things will diverge from the events in changeling canon from there, but I’m excited about the directions they will take. I have a soft spot for buggos.

The other big story on this list is Myths Like Us. It should seem familiar to my long-time readers, since I once posted a complete story called “Mew Like Me.”

If you’re guessing this story is a sequel involving transformation into other mythical pokemon, along with a return of the awesome characters from the first one… I’ve got some great news! Anyone who didn’t read the first story who’s a fan of pokemon stories can read the full version in PDF or epub here, or on my fanfiction.net profile here. Obviously it can’t be posted on fimifiction, since blog post chapters are not allowed and stories must be pony related.

This story will be posted free to all on my patreon. I plan on also posting it to fanfiction.net, but it will wait until it gets a cover for that. Expect lots of cute things to be provided.

Nothing new in terms of the monthly stories, so I’ll leave their descriptions for the end. As usual, you can read the first chapters for free on my patreon. They will all come here to fimfiction when they’re complete, as Return to Sender is doing now.

Sisters is continuing, and there’s also a new minific this month. Expect something neat in a radically different setting than my usual.

Lastly, and this isn’t on patreon, but I just had to brag about it. The first novel in my trilogy of magical girl stories is finished. It’s moving on to the professional edit now. I probably won’t publish it until the other two are written, so I can pursue a rapid-release schedule on amazon or some similar platform. But it’s extremely cute and I’m proud of it.

I failed to publish as many books last year as I hoped. This year I’m doing it.

Thanks to everyone for supporting me, and keeping me going on this mad quest. I am overwhelmed with gratitude every time I look at my comments section, or my patrons’ list. It cuts even more deeply to know so many people choose to keep supporting me even during such a difficult time.

Thank you all, sincerely. I know I won’t be writing pony stories forever, but it’s been a blast, and I hope to enjoy a little longer while I get all these stories told.
