State of the Scribe: August 2024

I’ll keep this one brief because I’m at Gencon right now running myself ragged. But I’d still like to make sure everything is up to date. I might say more as things progress.

The biggest news this month is the ending of Words of Power, one of the bigger stories that has gone on for… feels like at least a year now. Slow and steady, but hopefully worth the wait. I know I had a blast writing it! The fact it has so much color art means I really, really don’t want all that to get lost to time when the internet inevitably kills all my hosting links, which means a hardcover. It’s been two years since I’ve done anything relaly big in terms of a print book, and I think the time has come.

I had hoped to be able to show off what that finished book would look like when the day came, but that’s looking less and less likely. Cover is in progress now though, and I’m sure it will be amazing. Should look right and home next to fine print, while capturing that same awesome color.

Pony stories end, and other stories begin. We’ve had several slightly slower stories start lately,, Flames, Feathers, and Flames along with Accidental Sunshine. I won’t make any promises here, but there’s a good chance we’ll see another story taking Words of Power’s place in the near future…

I’ve also been writing non-pony (but similarly weird) content that I like to share. Some of you may have checked out an original scifi novel I wrote (set in the Message in a Bottle universe, with the same forerunner colony premise) called Forerunner’s Child. Turns out that book is the first of a trilogy, and I wrote the second one last month. Sometimes I just can’t help myself and a novel is the ultimate result. Don’t blame me.

This isn’t one of those books that could be great for any reader, you should really understand the first book to read this one. But you’re welcome to check out the original, Forerunner’s Child, on my patreon. I’ll leave it up until I finish all the edits and I finally get it up for sale somewhere. Not yet.

That’s all for now. Development on my Visual Novel is progressing, but that takes way more time, and I don’t want to get specific about something that is so far outside of my wheelhouse.
